What is a gastro or a food tour?
A gastro tour is a great way to eat your way through the city! On the Crobites – free gastro tour, we walk around Zagreb’s historic center and stop at various spots to taste traditional Croatian food. Along the way, you’ll learn about the culture and history behind each bite.
What can I expect to try?
Please note, the availability of these items may vary depending on the day of the week:
- Čvarci (crispy pork belly chips)
- Fresh cheese & sour cream
- Walnuts & dry figs
- Burek (savory pastry with meat or cheese)
- Girice (small fried fish or fried anchovies)
- Dried cured meats like prosciutto and sausages
- Rakija (traditional Croatian brandy)
- Olive oil & truffles
- Fresh bread bruschetta with local flavors
All food tastings are included, and the tour is tip-based – pay what you feel the experience is worth.
Is the food really free on the Gastro Tour?
On the Gastro Tour, you receive bite-size samples. These are indeed free and do not replace a full meal.
The tour is still tip-based, so we kindly ask you to reward the guide at the end of the tour. The amount is entirely up to you.
Is the tour really free?
The only income our guides have, is from you – our customer. At the end of your tour, the guide will kindly request you to give them whatever you find appropriate. We are a humble company, yet confident enough to trust you value our tours accordingly to their quality.
Can I reserve the tour for more than 6 people?
Our booking system allows reservations for a maximum of 6 people, and we have a good reason for that.
The maximum allowed size of tour groups is only 15 people, which is why aim towards solo travellers and small groups. Our experience has shown us that other attendees don’t appreciate larger groups within the tour. Smaller groups keep the tour up to speed and make it easier to make new friends. We kindly ask you to respect this.
What if I make multiple reservations for my group? We will not take the extra people on the tour. The overbooked spots may be given to other travellers.
But I really want to come with my group. We appreciate your enthusiasm! You can consider a private tour with us, book your own guide at your own desired time.
We want to book with 7 people, can you make an exception? No, respectfully. Our concept and policy work for a good reason, we apologize if this doesn’t meet your individual wishes.
For group bookings, we offer private tours: Click here

Yes, we do! We have tailor-made private tours for different occasions. If you have a company outing or any special event, we are here for you.
We offer private tours in English. The cost of a private tour is €65 per person, with a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 15 people.

Do I need to make a reservation?
We accept walk-ins on weekends, but reservations are strongly recommended, especially for Saturday and Sunday, as tour sizes are limited. From Monday to Friday, reservations are required to ensure we have enough guides. If the tour is full, you may need to join the next available tour. Booking in advance helps us provide the best experience for everyone!
Can I change or cancel the reservation?
No problem! If you want to schedule another time for your tour, you can cancel the tour in your confirmation email through this button.
CANCEL button
You can place a new booking on your preferred date & time. We kindly ask you to make a new reservation yourself, please do not email us with the request to change or cancel your reservation. Rebooking yourself is the best way to secure a new spot and how we keep our tours free. If you still need further assistance, contact us here!
Are tours canceled in bad weather?
Rain or snow, we always go!
In Zagreb, we’re no strangers to unpredictable weather. At Crobites, we believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. Check the weather forecast before your tour and dress accordingly. We’ll keep you warm with fascinating stories about our city!
What if only a few people show up?
Then you’ll be able to hear the guide better! As long as at least 1 person shows up and wants to take the tour, it’s on!
How far will we be walking?
From start to end, it will be a little over 2,5 km or about 1,5 miles.
Can we purchase in the shops we visit?
Yes, you will have time to purchase in the shops that we visit.
